Junior Varsity Math Club #1, #2, #3 Junior Varsity Math Club #1, #2 and #3 are all up and running! Ninety (90) sixth graders attended the three meeting dates. Number Sense was introduced and the students learned how to multiply a squared number mentally without pencil/paper. They will work to memorize the squares from 1-40. We will be using “The Little Red Book”. This book was sold last May during out GT night for $8.00. Next week, your student will bring home an order form if they missed the opportunity to buy one. FLIP BOOKS The easiest way to learn each number sense rule is to list it in a “flip book”, a set of 3 X 5 cards connected with a spiral. Then the student can easily carry it with them and refer to the rule/process. Mrs. Curtice has ordered 100 of the flip books and will have them at the JV meetings. You can bring your own or bring $1.50 and purchase one there. SNACK TIME Our school day is full and by 4:00 everyone needs a snack. Therefore, snacks will be available for purchase at the beginning of each meeting. The price range is $.25 to $1.00. There will be chips, crackers, and sodas available. Your student is welcome to bring his/her own snack from home. These monies go into the Math Club fund. RAIDER MATH T-SHIRTS
Our QVMS Math Clubs are known as Raidermath and we have our own green/yellow shirts that we proudly wear to school and to all competitions. Incoming sixth graders are encouraged to order one to wear. The shirt can be worn for all three years at QVMS. Each shirt is $10.00. More information will be forthcoming.
