Get a green form from any bulletin board, register for your desired testing areas and return it to Mrs. Curtice with cash or a check made out to The Village School by WEDNESDAY, February 11. When you visit our website, please notice that The Village School has built a new building and the competition will be in the new building. We are NOT taking a bus to this event as it only 20 -30 minutes down highway 6. Parents must provide transportation to and from the event. Mrs. Curtice and other parents will be present so students may be dropped off and then picked up at the conclusion of the competition. If transportation is an issue for your student, please contact Mrs. Curtice ASAP. II. STATE QUALIFYING SCORES The following will be QVMS’ qualifying scores for 2015. Look for those registration forms to appear on our website in the upcoming week. III. Parent Meeting – Tuesday, January 27 – Thank you to the parents who came to QVMS to discuss the upcoming Regional TMSCA meet. A signup genius has been created by one of our parents, Mrs. Brough, listing all the areas needing volunteers. PLEASE sign up to help either Friday, March 6 by stuffing the classroom packets of tests or putting up classroom signs to sitting at the registration table from 7:00 a.m. to 8:45 am. Saturday, March 7. Mrs. Curtice needs a Concession leader in the commons as well as a Hospitality Leader in the library. Of course, we hope to fill the library with scorers. We are thrilled to have again, Sushain C. and his crew of former GT Academy students from Dulles High School, handling all our registration electronically. These high school seniors will be entering all the data, handling all ties and completing the school packets. Please go to www.raidermath.weebly.com and find the link to the Sign up Genius. Any questions, please contact Mrs. Curtice IV. Chapter Math Counts Competition – Saturday, February 14- is fast approaching. Mrs. Nal has selected twelve (12)) Varsity I students as QVMS is allowed only TEN (10) students to participate at the Fluor Building Competition. The team of four and six individuals have not been decided yet. Currently there are nine students and three alternates. They are Andrew L, Ben W., Shree M., Ethan Z., Allen Z, Jo Ann S, Michelle W, Lauren W, Kevin J, Will S, Naveen M., and Jeremy Z. The final determination will be made in two weeks to make one team of four and six individuals. One student will be the alternate. QVMS won first place last year and is returning this year to defend its position. At the Chapter meet, seven schools and six individuals will advance to State Math Counts in Austin, Texas on March 28. Good Luck. Quail Valley Middle School will host the third T.M.S.C.A. State Qualifier Regional tournament on Saturday, March 7, 2015. We will need many volunteers to host this competition.
Please click here to sign up for volunteers. There is a Parent Meeting Tuesday, January 27 at 6 p.m.in Room 304-305. The TMSCA Regional qualifier is six (6) weeks away and we must begin discussing how to make this one very successful. We expect over 400 students and that requires many volunteers.
Mrs. Brough has made a “signup genius” for our parents. PLEASE consider giving a few hours of your time to check in students (registration). Most of the registration is being done by the Dulles High School students led by Sushain C. who did a magnificent job last year. A Hospitality person is needed in the library to handle the coffer machine, snacks and lunch for the scorers. Mrs. Curtice needs a Concession leader . She will have all the items already on hand. Dominos Pizza will be delivering. As many scorers as possible are needed in the library. Someone to take some photos would be nice. Also preparing the test packets on Friday afternoon is vital. Last year we had 4-5 moms helping do this task. Clean up will be an area at the end of the competition. Setting up the trophies is another. Currently, the proctors will be the high school students. Please see Sign Up Genius for more details. If you cannot make the meeting, please email Mrs. Curtice and/or plan to volunteer on Sign up Genius. Mrs. Curtice CANNOT make this a success without your help. WEEKLY MATH CLUB Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday – Regular math club Tuesday – NO Math Club – Mrs. Curtice will be attending the 25th anniversary of Austin Parkway Elementary from 3:30 – 4:30 where she was a teacher for five years.
