MATH CLUB NEWS
Students who placed in the top 4 Team of number sense, calculator, general math and general science at the State TMSCA Competition in San Antonio in April will be honored at the FBISD School Board meeting on Monday night. In addition, the state Team for Math Counts will be acknowledged as well as the two QVMS students who attended the National Math Counts in Boston. SUMMER WORKSHOPS I am waiting to hear if The Village School will be offering its workshops during June. I can recommend that you contact Star Learning as an excellent source for competition practice as well as a source for 6th or 7th grade math skills. Congratulations to Andrew Liu, Allen Zheng, Archer Wang, Eric Wu and Mrs. Isil Nal for placing 7th out of 63 teams. There were 254 students participating and all of our students placed from 23-38th. Between 4th and 7th place, there was only a difference of 0.25. Very close and very challenging Competition! Way to Go FBISD students! The week has arrived! QVMS Raiders are traveling to Boston, Massachusetts to represent Texas at the National Math Counts Competition to be held at the Sheraton Hotel. Andrew Liu, an eighth grader, and Allen Zheng, a seventh grader, were first and second in the State Count Down Round. Then Archer Wang and Eric Wu from Fort Settlement were third and fourth. They make up the 2015 Texas Math Counts Team who are coached by Mrs. Isil Nal, coach of QVMS. Mrs. Curtice will be traveling to Boston, also, to participate in the wonderful accomplishment.
